Car follow-up...her name is Lola

Apparently I am wierd for naming my car. I consider it good luck and named my hockey sticks for the same reason.

Brief recap- Tuesday night, picking up Flower after work, hoping to take her out to a movie or something. On the way home FPU [Female Parental Unit] wanted us to grab some supplies from the store. As we got off the freeway and stopped at a stopsign, the car sputters and dies. I say a few friendly 4 letterwords to it, starts back up, and head up the hill a little bit. Next stop sign, the car dies again and I hear a grinding noise. Not good. Safeway was about 500 feet down the road, traffic was a bit heavy. We barely make it to slaveway, car dies several times, grinding noise continues, people behind me get pissed off. We stop and make the call to my mechanic friend and mother letting them know whats up. After confering with the mechanic and determining towing it by car would be bad (axel would lock up, owning both cars), I call for a tow truck. Car is towed back to my house, it'll turn over, you just wont get far.

Estimate for repairs > $2000...its dead to me.

Wednesday: Wake up, start doing some research. Looking at a newish car, I am tired of the used junker car. Would like something semi-nice and reliable. Find work has a discount with Fords. Do a bit of research and find the Focus is the right price and what I need. I head onto Ford of Bellevue's website and find a nice 2008 for sale. I go down there and talk to someone who deals with MS Employees and get a decent deal for it. After taking a while to figure out the best financing its mine... (after a brief down payment snafu caused by the father figure).

I have been really impressed by the car so far. Its an odd feeling driving a car with no issues. It almost worries me with how well it all works, expect a shimmy or something. Its a base model, so not too much in the frills department, but that's all good with me. Heck the loan isn't even too bad, the insurance is what is killing me. That I am working on and shopping around for.

Also, if you're weird for naming your cars, I'm weird too. My Durango is "Doc Holiday", my wife's Mini is "Miss Moneypenny", and our VW Bus is "Starchild".
